Abstract
The black cutworm Agrotis ipsilon (Htifn.) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) is the most destructive insect pests in Egypt. Knowledge about population dynamics, life history, damage assessment, reproduction rates and life table parameters still not quite enough. The present field study was carried out with the endeavor of contributing some knowledge concerning certain ecological aspects.
Monitoring the changes in the population density of adult moths was carried out and the approximated number of field generations of moths in relation to both certain weather factors and yield loss which may play an important role in governing cotton yield in particular. Light traps were distributed in two different locations i.e. Shalakan, Qalyubyia Governorate and Sers El-Lian, Menofyia Governorate.
