Abstract This thesis aims to develop a modified model reference adaptive system (MRAS) observer for sensorless vector control of a wind driven doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) connected to grid. This observer is proposed to estimate the generator shaft speed using the stator voltage and current measurements. The control system behaviors of grid side converter (GSC) and rotor side converter (RSC) are described based on stator flux oriented (SFO) and stator voltage oriented (SVO) controllers, respectively. Grid synchronization enhancement of a wind driven DFIG using adaptive sliding mode control (SMC) is described and evaluated in this thesis. The proposed scheme directly controls the stator terminal voltage of the DFIG to track the grid voltage without current control loop; hence, the structure of controller is simplified. Finally, grid synchronization of a wind driven DFIG under unbalanced grid voltage is described and evaluated in this thesis. |
