Abstract vitrectomy and silicone oil injection carry many postoperative complications especially secondary glaucoma and hypotony . study was performed aiming at evaluating the changes in the IOP following vitrectomy and silicone oil injection and the possible risk factors for these changes . the various lines of treatment of abnormal ocular tension were also included .The study was carried out on 30 eyes following pars plana vitrectomy and silicone oil injection . Detailed ophthalmological history taking and full ophthalmological examination were performed for all patients included in this study . Glaucoma was managed according to its etiology : * overfill was treated by removal of the excess silicone oil . * silicone oil prolapse with blocked inferior iridectomy was treated by YAG laser iridotomy . * Silicone oil emulsification induced glaucoma was first treated medically with antiglaucoma drugs and when these failed to control the ocular tension , silicone oil removal was done if the retina was attached . Hypotony secondary to uveitis was also managed with topical and systemic steroids . |
