Abstract from conventional and functional CT and MRI and pathological biopsy studies these 20 patients had 7 patients with glioma, 6 patients with meningioma, 2 patients with metastases, 2 patients with intraventricular tumors, one patient with oligodendroglioma, one patient with lymphoma and one patient with pituitary macro-adenoma. Radiology and imaging has an important role in the diagnosis of brain tumors. A significant factor for success in the treatment of brain tumors are the determination of the extent of the tumor and infiltration of important structures using the CT and MRI imaging methods. Conventional CT scan remains a good choice in diagnosis of some conditions like vascular involvement and metastases to the skull base .Also CT is superior in detection of calcification. Conventional CT protocols and MRI protocols have been expanded by sophisticated new techniques that are used in practice. They have significantly contributed to the more detailed in diagnosis of tumors, and to a more accurate estimate of their malignant potential and relationship to the surrounding tissue. |
