Abstract

This work was carried out to study the molecular and epidemiological aspects of some zoonotic bacterial food borne pathogens such as Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella spp. and E. coli in animals (cows and buffaloes) of smallholders, milk and human at Dakahlia Province, Egypt. This was done in Hygiene and Zoonoses Department, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Mansoura University.A total of 347 samples were collected from smallholders at Aziza village, Dakahlia Province, Egypt. Theses samples composed of 135animal fecal swabs (75 from cows and 60 from buffaloes), 72 milk and 140 human samples (100 stool specimens and 40 hand swabs). Thirty one representive bacteriologically and biochemically identified E.coli isolates (6 from cow’s feces, 5 from buffaloes’ feces, 7 from cow’s milk, 6 from diarrheic stool samples, 5 from apparently healthy stool samples and 2 from hand swabs) were subjected to serological identification at Food Analysis Center, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Benha University.PCR and multiplex PCR were used for molecular characterization of a total of 63 representive bacteriologically and biochemically identified Staphylococcus aureus strains (30) and Salmonella spp. isolates (33).Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella spp. and E.coli were isolated from Samples.
