Abstract The present study was designed to demonstrate that, Hydrogen Sulfide(H2S) plays critical roles in the pathogenesis of chronic kidney diseases that associated diabetes and whether H2S has protective effects against diabetic nephropathy. The diabetic rat model was established by intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin after nicotinamide injection to induce type 2 diabetes and then Sodium Hydrosulfide (NaHS) administerated in a dose of (56 μmol/kg) as H2S donor for (5) weeks. H2S has been found to exhibit anti-fibrotic effects in obstructed nephropathy and inhibit proliferation and differentiation of renal fibroblasts. Sixty male adult albino rats average weighting at the beginning of the experiment (110 ± 20gm.) were housed in groups of ten in cage (cage for each group) with a relative humidity (55±10%) and 12hr light/dark cycle, With free access to a standard diets and water. Animals from all groups were kept under similar environmental condition of temperature, illumination, acoustic noise, and ventilation, and received the determined diet during the course of the experiment. |
