Abstract 1. The stocking density had an obvious effect on the behaviour and performance of growing rabbits so it is better to house growing rabbits at stocking density not more than 14 rabbits/ m2 (7 rabbits/ cage) and not less than 10 rabbits/ m2 (5 rabbits/ cage) to achieve the better performance and welfare. 2. Moreover, attention should be paid on choice the period of remating intervals. It advisable to remate does of rabbits at period not increasing than 14 day after parturition for achieving the best reproductive and productive performance of them. Also, it should be avoided the remating of does at first day post partum for decreasing the stillbirths occurrence. 3. Application of gnawing sticks inside the rabbits̕ cages had a favorable effect on their welfare and production as it decreased resting, aggressive and abnormal behaviour and increased comfort & social which indicated that lower stress and frustration of rabbits than that present in a hypo-stimulating environment and a better satisfaction of the behavioural needs for the enriched caged rabbits. In addition to, improving daily weight gain and feed efficiency. 4. It is advisable to enrich the rabbit̕̕ s cage by application of plastic mat on the floor to improve the performance of growing rabbits and decreasing the stress exposed. |
