Abstract

Phenylketonuria (PKU) is an inborn error of metabolism in which there is a deficiency or absence of an enzyme required to effectively metabolize natural sources of protein. Early detection and treatment of PKU prevent the severe consequences of this disorder, including subtle deficits in executive functioning, mild reductions in mental processing speed, social difficulties, and emotional problems, poor executive function may impact treatment adherence. Capacity building (CB) it is what we do and how we do our work. CB is defined as the ability of individuals and organizations or organizational units to perform functions effectively, efficiently and sustainably.
