Abstract This work is composed of four main chapters. The first chapter: introduction In this chapter, a literature survey was carried out and included the following of items:- a) Introduction about medicinal inorganic chemistry. b) Introduction about cancer and cancer chemotherapy. c) Metal ion complexes as anticancer agents:- i) Development of a new anticancer agent. ii) Classes of metal based pharmaceuticals. d) Antiinfective metal ion complexes. e) Biological properties of some metal complexes. f) Introduction about importance of hydrazone oximes. g) Importance of oximes and modes of bonding of oxime in metal complexes. h) Defintion, nomenclature and preparation of hydrazones. i) Importance of hydrazones and their metal complexes in the following fields of applications:- 1- Biological application: Antitumor, anti-mycobacterial and antimicrobial activity. 2- Pharmaceutical application: Anti-inflammatory activity, hydrazones in treatment of iron overload diseases, antimalarial, anti-trypanosomal and anti- convulsant. 3- Catalytic applications: In many fields such as some polymerization processes and some chemichal reactions. 4- Analytical applications: Such as separation and determination of traces of metals and determination of some species in pharmaceutical formulations. he second chapter: review of literature eview of literature on hydrazones, oximes and hydrazone oximes. his chapter included the following items: 1- Aliterature survey was carried outon hydrazones which include bidentate, tridentate, teradentante, pentadentate, hexadentate, octadentate and nonadentate hydiasone ligands and their corresponding metal complexes. Analytical applications: Such as separation and determination of traces of metals and determination of some species in pharmaceutical formulations. econd chapter: review of literature of literature on hydrazones, oximes and hydrazone oximes. apter included the following items: Aliterature survey was carried outon hydrazones which include bidentate, tridentate, teradentante, pentadentate, hexadentate, octadentate and nonadentate hydiasone ligands and their corresponding metal complexes. Aliterature survey was carriedouton oximes which include types of oximes: simple, carbonyl, vicinal, phenol, hydroxy, imine, pyridine and amine oximes.
