Abstract This study was conducted on twenty three patients came to our bronchoscopy unit at Ain Shams University hospital for interventional diagnostic or therapeutic bronchoscopy including 19 males & 4 females. After the bronchoscopic procedure chest ultrasound and chest x-ray were done to every patient to examine the concordance between both of them. Only one case developed pneumothorax as a complication from the intervention (4.3%) which was detected by the CXR as well as the ultrasound. During our study we observed that the pleural effusion was detected better by the ultrasound than the routine CXR: Ultrasound : 100% CXR : 66.6% Lung collapse was seen by the CXR as well as the ultrasound. Ultrasound : 100% CXR : 100% Also during the study the lung mass was detected better by the CXR than the ultrasound. Ultrasound : 10% CXR : 80% |
