Abstract Our study is done to evaluate the association between H. pylori infection and alopecia areata by H.pylori antigen detection in stool by ELISA. In this study we found That H. pylori infection was positive in 17 of all 24 patients (70.8%); while in 7 patients did not support H. pylori infection (29.2%). Most cases of AA were presented with AA at the scalp. GIT symptoms as acute gastritis with abdominal pain (stomach ache) or nausea, dyspepsia, and sometimes vomiting or black stool are common among cases of AA infected with H.pylori. This showed statistically significant result. Our result proposed an association between H.pylori and alopecia areata. This result may through light for further investigation on large scale of patient and in different centers.Accordingly,eradication of H.pylori should be put in consideration for treating AA. |
