Abstract Isopods are a particularly interesting group as they are the sole crustaceans which are fully adapted to land life forming a natural and probably a large important elemt of the terrestrial fauna isopods are widely distributed throughout the woodlant ecosystems they are decribed by ovington (1962)as the most complex of all terrestrial communities.isopods occur extensively on or just blow the soil surface and may play an imoprtant role in soil formation and perhaps improving soil structure by accelerating the decomosition processes carried out by microorganisms. |
