Abstract This study aimed at investigating the effect of using a program based on blended learning on developing some writing modes in English to Commercial Secondary School Students. The study was meant with developing some functional writing modes (which were letter writing, Fax writing, E-mail writing and Memorandum writing). The sample included 44 commercial secondary school students who were studying English as a foreign language at the Developed Commercial Secondary School in Shebin El-Kom. They were divided into two groups, the experimental group (n=22) and the control group (n=22). They were prepost tested using the same instruments which were an achievement test and an electronic program based on blended learning. The experimental group used a program based on blended learning while the control group received regular teaching. Pre-post-test design was used for the two groups. Results of the study revealed that: 1) Students’ level in functional writing modes was poor as revealed in pre-testing. 2) Students’ level significantly improved a lot after experimentation. 3) Students’ improvement was due to using a program based on blended learning. |
