Abstract Pollution is the introduction of contaminants into an environment that causes instability, disorder, harm or discomfort to the ecosystem, i.e., physical systems or living organisms. In the past, people used fire and only some simple tools in their life, but now, after industrial revolution, most of environments became polluted with many sources of pollution. People exposed to any type of pollution can be more at risk to some diseases than unexposed people and these diseases may be inherited due to hybridization in some genes causing a very dangerous type of pollution known as genetic pollution. The aim of the present work is to study some biochemical, hematological and molecular parameters in Egyptian ceramic workers exposed to ceramic dust and compared with controlled unexposed people to ceramic vapor to detect some changes occurring due to this pollution. Workers group was subdivided according to the duration of ceramic vapor exposure to 2 subgroups. This study showed that statistically there was significant increase of apoptosis, expression of CD95 with DNA damage. However, there was a significant decrease of catalase and superoxide dismutase levels with the increase of lipid peroxidation. So, ceramic vapor may affect the cell behavior with the DNA damage. |
