Abstract The protozoan Toxoplasma gondii is an In man. intracellular ?arasite found 1n mammals and birds. Infection 1s asymptomatic 1n the majority of cases. In only 10 to 20% of the adult patients clinical evidence of disease is found iKr1ck & Remingtion. 1978: Welch et al .. 19801 . Lym- Phadenopathy, malaise, fever and a predominance of mononuclear cells in the peripheral blood are the most prominent clinical features. In the majority of cases. spantaneous resolution occurs within a matter of months. The Toxoplasma gondii asymptomatic form. infection then persists in a chronic |
