Abstract Utility of waste in preparing new compounds and formulation with anticipated biological activity In this thesis, three main subjects were investigated: 1. Synthesis of some 1,3,4-oxadiazoles and 1,2,4-triazoles incorporating fatty acid moieties. The starting materials of these syntheses are fatty acids obtained from natural sources (e.g. the grease waste of the grilled chicken and mango seeds). Some of the prepared compounds were evaluated as antitumor agents toward two cell lines breast cell line MCF-7 and liver cell line HepG2. Also, the antimicrobial activities were screened for gram positive bacteria, gram negative bacteria and fungi strains. 2. 2-Furfuraldehyde extracted from lignocelluloses was used as starting material for the synthesis of some acyclic and heterocyclic systems (e.g. chromene and quinoline derivatives). 3. Some extracts were obtained from chicken feathers which disposal represents environmental problem and black liquor. These extracts proved to be effective larvicidal agents against Musca demostica larvae.
