Abstract In this thesis, two extra high voltage transmission lines HIF detection schemes have been proposed based on the high frequency disturbance generated on the voltage signals at the relay location. The high frequency disturbances are extracted by high pass filter and wavelet transform respectively to recognize the change corresponding to the HIF effect on the voltage signal. In addition, this thesis proposes an efficient fault-location technique. This method depends on determining the location via the unsynchronized RMS value of the sending and receiving end zero sequence currents for ground faults, or the RMS value of the sending and receiving negative sequence currents for phase faults. |
