Abstract The Coptic Church is a sacred place, where Christian religious rituals are conducted. As a result, there is a great need for the presence of a number of indispensable religious artifacts and woodworks. These objects include arks, ambons, candelabrum, iconostases, lecterns, and altar boards. Most of these objects are made out of wood, because of its aesthetic abilities, cheap price, and availability. The main reason for choosing this topic is the high importance of woodworks in churches. Minia Churches possess big number of wooden objects. Coptic churches in Minia have thus been the subject of many studies; however, woodwork in Minia churches has been given no particular attention. By considering woodworks in Minia churches, this study attempts to fill in this research gab. It aims to study the woodwork collection in the churches of Minia. The researcher adopts a descriptive and analytical method. The thesis is divided into an introduction and three chapters, ending with a conclusion. |
