Abstract This thesis presents new high performance liquid chromatographic methods for determination of selected chiral drugs belonging to the class of NSAIDs either in bulk form or in their pharmaceutical dosage forms. The drugs selected for this study are: Ibuprofen (IBP), Ketoprofen (KTP) and Ketorolac (KTC). It consists of five parts: Part I This part describes a general introduction about chirality, chiral resolution and chiral liquid chromatography that can be applied for enantioseparation either directly through chiral stationary phases and chiral mobile phase additives with a spotlight on Whelk-O chiral stationary phase and its chiral recognition mechanism or indirectly through chiral derivatization. Finally, chiral separation of NSAIDs and its significance are discussed. Part II This part deals with the development of HPLC method for the enantioseparation of ibuprofen and quantitative determination of its eutomer, dexibuprofen using (R,R)-Whelk-O 2 chiral stationary phase. |
