Abstract A total of 702 samples (27 input water, 81 pond water, 27 feedstuffs, 81 bottom muds, 243 intestinal content and 243 surface swabs) were collected from El-Abbassa (governmental fann) and EI- Warwary farm (private farm) during a period from June to November 2012 and from March to May 2013 (summer, autumn and spring), while winter season was excluded from this study due to harvesting and marketing of fish. The collected water samples were subjected to physico-chemical and bacteriological examination for determination of their hygienic condition. The other samples (feedstuffs, bottom mud and fish) were subjected to bacteriological examination. The isolated E.co/i, Aeromonas Spp, Staph. aureus and Ps. aeroginosa were confirmed biochemically and 20 isolated E. coli were typed serologically. In addition, 20 isolates of A.hydrophila and A. caviae were subjected to PCR for detection of aerolysin (aer) and hemolysin (hly) virulence genes. J-Physico-chemical characteristics of water in fish farms. Temperature of input and pond water ranged from 21.70 to 29.50 and from 20.81 to 30.50 QC, respectively in El-Abbassa fish farm and from 20.50 to 30.50 and from 20.50 to 31.50 QC, respectively in El-Warwary fish farm. The mean values of input water temperature were 27.08±0.312, 29.12±0.322 and 21.91±0.271 QC in spring, summer and autumn, respectively |
