Abstract

This thesis aimed to the synthesis of some new biologically active benzo[h]chromoneflavanones, flavones and coumarins derivatives. We planned to construct a good versatile synthon 6-allyl-3-formyl-4H-benzo [h]chrom-4-one (20). This compound occupies a unique position because it contains O-C=C-C=O group which is consider a biologically activity moiety as well as the presence of three electro deficient centers at C-2, C-4 and C-3 formyl groups. from the antioxidant activity assay, the compounds 4c, 7b, 15 exhibit the highest activity especially compound 15 which gave inhibition ratio nearly the same ratio of L-ascorbic acid. Compound naphthyl pyrazoline 7b was highly active and more effective against gram negative (E. coli) and gram positive (S. aureus). As well as the same compound 7b exhibit excellent MIC measurement (3.9 µg/ml) compared with the antibiotic drug Ampicillin (187.5 µg/ml). On the other hand compound naphthyl oxazoline 9a exhibit excellent against both of gram (+ve & -ve) also good MIC measurement (15.6 µg/ml).Also, the compounds cinnamoylnaphthalene (chalcones) 4a, naphthoflavone 13b and naphthoflavanone 11a showed approximately the same activity against (E. coli) and no activity against (S. aureus) compared with Ampicillin.
