Abstract The first experiment aimed to study the effect of pregermination treatments for Livistona australis (R.Br.) Mart. seeds on some germination and vegetative growth traits. The obtained results recomend to soak Livistona seeds in GA3 at 500 ppm for one day to obtain the best germination traits. The second and third experiments aimed to investigate the response of Ptychosperma elegans (R.Bt.) and Sabal palmetto (Walt) transplants (one-year-old) to different N, P and K fertilization treatments. The obtained results recommend to apply a mixture N3P3K1 of 6.0 g ammonium sulphate (20.5% N), 8.25 g calcium superphosphate (15.5% P2O5) and 0.8 g potassium sulphate (48.5 K2O) for each transplant in repeated doses every two months commencing from February 15th till December 15th. to obtain high quality transplants. The fourth experiment aimed to study the response of Sabal palmetto (Walt) Lodd. ex. Schult & Schult transplants to different levels of sulphur in a soil reaction tends to alkalinity. The obtained results advised to apply sulphur at 3 g/pot as a soil amendment. |
