The present thesis comprises the following chapters: 1- Geological and Hydrogeological aspects 2- Environmental impacts 3- Evaluation of Environmental impacts 4- Case Study “Relationship between groundwater quality and banana plantation” 5- Summary & Conclusion Study area The study area lies at the south and southwest part of the Nile Delta. This area lies between longitudes 30° 40 and 31° 20\ E and latitudes 30° 10\ and 30° 50\ N. The area under study is characterized by a long dry summer and a short warm winter with small rainfall which start from October to March. I- Geological and hydrogeological aspects Geological aspects: The stratigraphical succession under the surface of the study area belongs to the Quaternary sediments which constitute the main aquifer in the Nile Delta. The sediments in the Nile Delta have been classified into two rock unitsMit- Ghamr Formation and the Bilquas Formation. MitGhamr Formation. |
