Abstract

The present study was conducted on a total of 155 cows infested with gastrointestinal nematodes and located in Dakahlia provine. These animals were devided into three groups, during the postpartum period (75 cows); in case of anoestrus (40 cows) and repeat breeder due to endometritis (40 cows). Each group was assigned into four subgroups; levamisole, ivermectin, pyrantel tartrate treated subgroups, in addition to control group for studying the effect of anthelmintic drugs on the reproduction in cows. In case of repeat breeder in addition to the anthelmintic drug a dose of 50 ml oxytetracycline hydrochloride 5% was infused intrauterine at day of treatment by anthelmintic drugs.
Both treated and non-treated subgroup were examined rectally every week to check the differnt reproduction performances for the different groups.
Blood samples were collected immediately before and every week after treatment till time of heat for the chemical analysis.
from the statistical analysis of the obtained results, it has been found that :
I- The clinical uterine involution, interval from calving to the onset of the first observed heat and the open days period from calving to conception were significantly shorter in diffeent treatment groups than that in the control group during the postpartum period.
2- In case of anoestrus, there was a highly significant decrease in the interval elapsed from the start of treatment to the onset of heat for the different treatment groups when compared to the control. Shortest interval incorporated with treatment by pyrantel tartrate followed by ivermectin and levamisole, while it was in the control.
3-In case of endometritis, time elapsed from the start of treatment by the anthelmintic drugs and antibiotic to the successful mating was significant sluoter than in the control.
4-The number of services per conception and conception rate appeared better after treatment by levamisole, ivermectin and pyrantel tartrate during postpartum period, in case of anoestrus and repeat breeder than that in the control.
5-Total proteins and albumin significantly increased, while globulins significantly decrease in animal groups of postpartum, anoestrus and repeat breeder after treatment by levamisole, ivennectin and pyrantel tartrate when compared to that either in the same animal group before treatment and in the control.
6-a and f3 globulins significantly decreased and y globulin significantly increased in animal groups of postpartum, anoestrus and repeat breeder after treatment by levamisole, ivennectin and pyrantel tartrate when compared to that in the same animal group before treatment and in the control.
7-Calcium concentration appeared significantly higher in case of anoestrus after treatment by levamisole, ivennectin and pyrantel tartrate than that either before treatment or in the control.
8-Inorganic phosphorus concentration was significantly higher in all animal groups of postpartum, anoestrus and repeat breeder after treatment by levamisole, ivermectin and pyrantel tartrate when compared either before treatment in the same group or in the control.
9-Copper and zinc levels were significantly higher in all animal groups of postpartum, anoestrus and repeat breeder after treatment by levamisole, ivermectin and pyrantel tartrate than that either before
treatment or in the control group.
10-There was a highly significant decrease in AST and ALT activities for all animal groups of postpartum, anoestrus and repeat breeder after treatment by levamisole, ivennectin and pyrantel tartrate
when compared to that either before treatment or in the control.
11-There was a highly significant decrease in creatinine in all
animal groups of postpartum, anoestrus and repeat breeder after treatment by levamisole, ivennectin and pyrantel tartrate when compared to that either before treatment or in the control.
