Abstract This thesis aims to separate the role of BaO that added with Li2O and PbO to change the structure and also the physical properties of Li2O.BaO.B2O3 and BaO.PbO.B2O3 glasses. N4 data that obtained from deconvolution of infrared spectra can be used to separate the structural species and determine the concentration of each one. This can be done by applying a technique that can be called the ”Species-discrimination technique”. from the results of electrical conductivity and density it was found that: First: There is a linear change in the static properties such as N4, D, Vm with BaO content for Li2O.BaO.B2O3 and BaO.PbO.B2O3 glasses, revealing that these glasses can be looked as a mixture of two matrices from corresponding binary types of glass, and each property can be expressed as a resultant contribution of these binary systems. Second: It should be noted that: a new form of ’’ mixed modifier’’ effect could be observed for glasses that contain monovalent Li2O and divalent oxide such as BaO. |
