Abstract The present study included 160 burnt cases admitted to Burn Unit in Tanta University Hospital, Egypt during a period of six months from the start of March (2013) to the end of August (2013).This study aimed to study the medico-legal aspects of burnt cases and the magnitude of burn problem in Burn Unit in Tanta University Hospital including the bio-demographic data, circumstances of burn, causes of burn, degree of burn, duration of hospital stay and outcome of patients with burn injuries to design a special sheet including data with medico–legal concern.A special burn sheet was designed for every patient.Every case was examined clinically for:- Assessment of the general condition. Describing the local injury including: Percentage of burnt area, degree of burn (first, second, third and/or mixed) and site of burnt area in the body. Investigations done according to the case.Outcome of patients: (improved, complicated or died). Time and mode of discharge from hospital: (improved,complicated, escaped or died). Photography of the injury was done after taking a written informed consent from the patient, parents or his guardian. |
