Abstract A total of 60 apparently healthy chicks of one day-age-old, were used in this work. The chicks were classified into 5 equal groups each group contains 12 chicks where group 5 used as control group. Group 1 was given therapeutic dose of Ceftiofur. Group 2 was given double therapeutic dose of Ceftiofur. Group 3 was given therapeutic dose of Cefepime. Group 4 was given double therapeutic dose of Cefepime. The two drugs were given I/M for 5 successive days. The chicks which given Ceftiofur didn’t show characteristic clinical signs except that the growth rate and food consumption weren’t as the control group. Congestion and telangiectasis had been detected in the liver of chicks which given the therapeutic dose of cefomed I/M and sacrificed after one week. The portal area showed congestion with proliferation of bile ductules and fibroblasts. Focal necrotic area infiltrated with lymphocytes, |
