Abstract The present study was carried out on 648 animals (148 Cattle, 86 Buffaloes, 136 Sheep and 278 Camel) of different ages and sex during the period of survey extended from (April 2008 to March 2009) in different localities including (El-basateen, Kafr dawoud and Menof abattoirs) by examination of slaughtered animals for detecting of the occurrence and Prevalence of hydatidosis among different animal species in addition, morphological description of the recovered Hydatid cyst. Molecular analysis of hydatid cyst recovered from different animal species was also performed. The Percentage of infection in Cattle, Buffaloes, Sheep and Camel were 2.03%, 1.16%, 4.41% and 24.46% respectively. The most commonly infected organs were the lung and the liver. Most of hydatid cysts recovered from camel and sheep were fertile, while those recovered from cattle and buffaloes were sterile. Concerning to the seasonal occurrence of hydatidosis among different animals the highest infection rate in cattle, buffaloes and sheep was recorded during spring season while the highest infection rate in camel recorded during autumn season. The peak of infection observed during April in case of buffaloes and sheep while May and November in case of cattle and camel respectively. Concerning to the occurrence of hydatidosis in relation to the age of examined animals, aged animals are most frequently infected. The occurrence of hydatid cyst in relation to animal sex the infection rate is higher in females in case of buffaloes, camels and sheep. |
