Abstract
The present work was performed to study the effect and mechanism of action of the curde toxin extracted from the leaves of ”Nerium oleander linnaeus” plant with the pink flower type on some renal functions in dogs.Ten dogs were included in this work.The extract was obtaned from the leaves (which contain the highest level of the toxic glycosides) of that plant. I.V. injection of sublethal dose (lOmg/K B.W/d.) of the extract was done for 30 days. During that period blood and urine samples were taken before injection, 15 and 30 days after injection to study and follow up renal functions. from the present results we can conclude that the ectract of Nerium oleander causes renal dysfunction in dogs when injected intravenously will sublethal dose.
