Abstract

use of multiple endocrine parameters showed a high prevalence of biochemical hyperandrogenism in patients with PCOS, two thirds of the patients had adrenal hyperandrogenism, and estradiol and insulin did not influence adrenal secretion.
Although ovarian androgen excess affects more than 50% of polycystic ovary patient (PCOS), adrenal androgen excess affects approximately 25% of PCOS patient. The exact etiology of that excess in PCOS patient is unclear and most likely a complex trait this can be evidenced by elevated serum dehydroepiandrostenedione sulfate (DHEAS). In these patients glucocorticoid administration may improve the ovulatory function of them. These benefits are helping in treatment and prognosis of these PCOS patients.
