Abstract

Egypt is the gift of the Nile, The Egyptian civilization remams to the riches of the Eastern Desert. whereas, the rich soil of the Nile ~gypt the means of life, the Eastern Desert endowed Egypt with means nent. Once the ancient Egyptian life obtained the stability and luxury, :; needed more precious and diverse stones to meet more civilized 5. Therefore, they needed to make the best use of the riches of the )esert. On the other hand, upholding the Egyptian civilization along the ey needed protection not to be obtained without subduing the Eastern ’herefore, it was not strange to find Egyptians paying attention to this part of Egypt since the dawn of the Egyptian history.
ell established that the religious thought was the backbone of the ancient civilization; therefore, religion must have overwhelmed life in the )esert. The present study is an attempt to illustrate how much religion ;tive in the life of the inhabitants and workers in the Eastern Desert. The
is seeking to answer the questions which were provoked by the Ice of the Eastern Desert throughout the Egyptian history. It is interesting when the first evidence of religious life was traced in the Eastern Desert. :r, when and where the peak of religious practice could be found! The which poses itself is that what kind of religious monuments were found; shrines, statues or rock-inscriptions? Vv’ho were the gods and goddesses ~d at the Eastern Desert? Did the deities differ from one place to another?
is very important to know whether the gods worshipped at the Eastern vere the same as those venerated at the Nile valley, and if so were they ped coincidently?
rering these questions required more profound understanding of the s carried out in the Eastern Desert. It was very essential to identify the embers of the expeditions sent to the Eastern Desert; they helped to rer their religious believes to the Eastern Desert. Studying these lals was very important to reveal their names, identities, professions and s believes.
