Abstract

The maser thesis include four main chapter I- Aim of the work The work aimed to prepare and characterize a new guanidinium ligand and its metal complexes aiming to study their effects on both microbial and tumour diseases
II- Introduction
This chapter includes an overview of the previous researches
on complexes of guanidine ligands and their applications
III- Experimental
This chapter contains the chemical reagents and equepiments
used for measurement of different parameters all over the
work as follow:
1) Preparation of the guanidine ligand and its metal complexes.
2) Characterization of the ligand and its complexes using different
methods:
• Physical techniques such as molar conductance and magnetic
susceptibility
• Elemental analyses (C, H, N, Cl and M).

• Spectral techniques as IR, (UV- Vis.), 1HNMR, mass spectra
and ESR measurements.
• Thermal techniques as DTA. and TGA
3) Measurement of biological activity for the prepared complexes.
iv. Results and discussion
This chapter includes Characterization of the ligand and its complexes.
The ligand N- (amino [2- hydroxy] methylene) amino - methylene –
carbono hydrazonic diamide was prepared as follow:
1- Condensation of thiourea with hydrazine hydrate (1:1) for three
hours to obtain the hydrazide.
2- Condensation of salicylaldehyde with the hydrazide (1:1) for
three hours to give the ligand.
Metal complexes of N- (amino [2- hydroxy] methylene) amino -
methylene – carbono hydrazonic diamide ligand have been synthesized
and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, UV- VIS spectra, Magnetic
moments, Conductances, Thermal analyses (DTA- TGA) and ESR
measurements. The IR data show that, the ligand behaves as neutral
bidentate or mono basic bidentate. Molar conductances in DMF indicate
that, the complexes are non- electrolytes. The ESR spectra of solid Cu(II)
complexes show axial type symmetry with g// > g┴ > 2.00, indicating a

spectrum of Cu(II) complex (2) [(L)2(Cu)2(OAc)2].3H2O is a
characteristic of the triplet state of a dimer species and the distance found
between the two Cu(II) centers is 4.2 A°. Complexes showed
