Abstract Traffic nonuniformity causes large differences in the signal qualities at succeeding satellites. So, this thesis studies the problem of traffic nonuniformity, and discusses how the degree of traffic nonuniformity affects the performance of the system. The traffic assignment control scheme is discussed when CDMA multiple access technique is employed in LEO systems, and the relation between number of satellite in any LEO system, and the performance of that system is evaluated when this traffic assignment control scheme is employed. In order to evaluate the performance of LEO systems in general, the characteristics of two best known LEO satellite systems (IRIDIUM, and GLOBALSTAR systems) are used in this thesis. |
