Abstract A total of 87 anaesthetic trials were performed on 65 animals (12 horses and 53 donkeys) of both sexes and of different ages and weights to determine a suitable and cheap method of anaesthesia in equine. For this purpose 55 pilot and 32 experimental trials were carried out using chloral hydrate in different anaesthetic regimens. In the piolt study 27 different anaesthetic combinations were tested through 44 different regimens The onset, maximum effect, reflexes, duration and recovery of anaesthesia were recorded in each regimen taking in consideration the effect on the vital parameters (temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure). |
