Abstract

Control women, were found to be .significantly heavier, taller, with greater circumference at midarm, thigh, and calf. Their skin folds were thicker at biceps, triceps and subscapular sites. Their blood pressure was found to be lower in both systolic and diastolic. Their midarm muscle circumference, midarm muscle area and corrected midarm muscle area were found to be lower, while the body mass index was higher.than th~ hemodialysis group. The serum albumin of the control women was significantly higher than hemodialysis group.
For body weight in control men group, the highest correlations were with body mass index, biceps skinfold and calf circumference. As a result, body weight can be predicted in control men group from biceps skinfold and calf circumference using specific prediction equations.
For body weight, in hemodialysis men, the highest correlations were with body mass index, sum of skinfold and triceps skin fold. As a result, body weight can be predicted in hemodialysis men group from sum of skinfold and triceps skinfold using specific prediction equations.
For body weight, in control women, the highest correlations were with body mass index, calf circumference and thigh circumference. As a result body weight can be predicted in control women group from calf circumference and thigh circumference using specific prediction equations.

The control men group were classified according to body mass index (8Ml) as follows, normal group (BMI=18.5-24.9) represent about
