Abstract This word is concerned with the experimental invesigations aooroach of enhanement of the the performance of a Split Air Conditioner by Cooling the Condenser using the Evaporative Condensate. The parameters which are involved in this study are dry bulb temperature, wet bulb temperature, relative humidity, refrigerant temperature and refrigerant pressure. All these parameters are studied under different relative humidity and ambient air temperatures as a fu This work is concerned with the experimental investigations approach of enhancement of the nction of time. The data of most available local manufacturer’s air conditioners do not include the water distribution basin over the condenser. So that it is an attempt to conduct some data for local condensers. The test rig used in this work is a vapor compression refrigeration unit with condenser which having local specifications. The condenser used is air forced one. Its design is L-shaped; the pipe diameter of the condenser is 0.7 m, material: (inner groove copper tube - aluminum fins). It has twin rows with sixteen fins per inch. The outer dimensions of the condenser are 0.85 m length, 0.15 m width and 0.7 m height. The temperatures of the pipe surface at the outlet from compressor, condenser, capillary tube. and evaporator, air inlets, air outlets and room were measured by ten pre-calibrated Chrome 1- Alumel thermocouples of 0.02 m wire diameter via a digital thermometer and a selector switch. The range of the digital thermometer reading is from -30°C to 350°C, with a resolution of 0.1 -c. The ten thermocouples were distributed as follows; four ones were used to measure the temperature at the inlet and outlet of the air for both evaporator and condenser, two ones for in-door and out-door temperature measurements and the later four ones were welded to the pipe surface at the outlets of condenser, compressor, capillary tube and evaporator. The pressure gauge dials with an accuracy of ± 0.1 psi mounted at the inlet and the outlet of both evaporator and condenser. A real air conditioner is used to test the innovation by putting the water distribution basin over the condenser of the form of (U-shaped). Its dimensions are; 0.9 m length, 0.1 m width and 0.1 m height. The water basin was installed horizontally over the condenser coil such that its base is ahead and contact of the condenser. The base has 100 holes that were drilled to distribute the condensation from the evaporator to flow homogenously. |
