Abstract

This longitudinal study aimed to evaluate the
hypothesis that the method of feeding whether breast or
formula feeding in early infancy affects subsequent
neurodevelopment and achievement of optimum brain
function (sensory and cognitive).
The present study was conducted on 50 normal
infants, their ages ranged between 6-18 months. They were
22 males and 28 females. They were divided into two
groups: Group A; including 20 infants who were fed
exclusive breast feeding. Group B; including 30 infants who
were fed exclusive artificial feeding. Infants of group B
were subdivided into 2 subgroups: Subgroup B1; including
15 infants receiving exclusive formula feeding not fortified
with LC-PUFA and Subgroup B2; including 15 infants
receiving exclusive formula feeding fortified with LC PUFA.
