Abstract firstly, we mentioned the basic science of nitrous oxide which include a note on the history, chemistry, physical properties and manufacture.as it is clear, it has remarkable longevity, chemical stability inside the body and the only inorganic compound-with exception of xenon, that has been to produce general anaesthesia.then we discuss the virtues of nitrous oxide as an anaesthetic agent which include: low blood solubility, minimal adverse effect on respiratory and cardiovascular system, its advantages when used with other volatile agents, non-irritant properties, no metabolism and its analgesic properties. |
