Abstract -The main part of this study was to throw a beam of light on the biochemical mechanism of Aphis gassy pii-resistance to insecticides. Three resistant strains of this insect were selected by usi ng pirimicarb, cyanophos and alphamethrin as a carbamate , OP n n d p y r e l h 1· o i d ·i n R e c t ·1 c i cl c s c o n s e q 11 e n t 1. y • The cross -resistanc e spectrum of each resistant stra i n to 8 differc11t insecticides was also evAluated The activity and sensitivity of AChE were determined in the three resistant strains. More over t he contribution of some enzymatic activities (phosphatases and non-specific esterases) in the resistance phenomena of~· gossypii was also bioassayed.
