Abstract Wireless Sensor Networks suffers from many limitations such as the computing capabilities, and the allocated bandwidth. However, the limited energy source is the dominant factor where energy starvation occurs due to the large number of messages need to be transferred through the network. This thesis proposes several techniques including predictors and fuzzy logic for minimizing the data sent by different nodes to the base station in order to maximize the single-modal and multi-modal WSNs lifetime. Moreover, part of our work is dedicated for deploying of WSN inside greenhouses for controlling the environmental conditions. A simple Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) is used in taking right decisions and avoiding false alarms. Nevertheless, off-shelf components are showed to be effectively to be used for greenhouse applications through Internet based monitoring. |
