Abstract Response to Modernity in T.S.Eliot’s and Salah Abdel-Sabour’s poetry deals with the concept of modernity and its premises on the one hand and both Eliot’s and Abdel-Sabour’s reaction to it in their poetry on the other hand. In this light the thesis aims at achieving certain objectives. First, it explores the so-called ambiguous nature of modernity. Hence it sheds light on its fundamental features, examines the historical background and the influential intellectuals that contributed in its rise and tackles its connection with other family words such as modernization and modernism. |
