Abstract
The present thesis has three main chapters : Chapter I- (Introduction): This chapter represents a scientific and a historical review of uranium occurrences, properties, uses. This chapter represents also a scientific and a historical literature survey concerned with measurement of uranium with different analytical techniques, destructive or non destructive technique. These techniques are including Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), Laser Fluorometry, Neutron Activation analysis, Spectrometry, Gravimetric method, Alpha spectrometry …….etc. This chapter also concluded literature review about determination of uranium isotopes by alpha spectrometry which is reached through several steps such as Sample preparation, Separation and Purification, Source Preparation and detection and activity calculation. Chapter II- (Experimental): This chapter represents the preparation and characterization of the concerned samples for determination of uranium isotopes by alpha spectrometry. The section also gives the details of the preparation of solution used through the radiochemical procedure. Also, the instrumental equipments that are used in our present study are summarized in this chapter. The last section of this chapter includes the radiochemical technique used in our study.
