Abstract A total number of 156 samples of apparently healthy and diseased horses were bacteriologically examined in this study for isolation and identification of R. equi. Ciprofloxacin and erythromycin were the antimicrobial of choice for the R. equi isolates. Virulence associated protein (Vap A) 15-17 kDa antigen was considered the major virulence factor of R. equi and detected by SDS-PAGE and immunoblotting. A total number of 50 samples of horses were bacteriologically examined in this study for isolation and identification of C. peseudotuberculosis. Gentamycin, penicillin G and trimethoprim were the antimicrobial of choice for the C. peseudotuberculosis isolates. PLD antigen was detected by SDS-PAGE and immunoblotting. |
