Abstract A total of 600 cows (270 living and 330 slaughtered) typed as apparently healthy (155) and diseased animals (445) were collected from El- Kaliobia, Giza, El-Fayoum and Ismailia governorates. As well as a total of 130 buffaloes (40 living and 90 slaughtered) typed as apparently healthy (55) and diseased animals (75) were collected from El-kaliobia and Giza governorates and examined to study the incidence of Mycoplasmataceae in respiratory, genital tract and eyes of the cows and buffaloes. The highest incidence of Mycoplasmataceae was from living cows (15.2 %) then slaughtered cows (11.5%). Among buffaloes also the highest incidence of Mycoplasmataceae was from living buffaloes (20 %) then slaughtered buffaloes (4.4 %). The 91 isolates were cultured on Ureaplasma medium to detect Urease activity of the isolates and differentiate between Ureaplasma and Mycoplasma. Four isolates were grown on Ureaplasma medium which represented Ureaplasma species (4.4%).87 isolates were subjected to growth inhibition test using Mbovis and M. bovigenitalium antisera.19 isolates were given positive results (zone of inhibition) against M bovis antiserum and 7 isolates were given positive results (zone of inhibition) against M. bovigenitalium. |
