Abstract In this study, using a high resolution gel electrophoresis technique, we have characterized the myosin heavy chain composition in different muscles of the baladi rabbits during postnatal development .The pattern of myosin heavy chain expression was studied in 6 different muscles of hind limb, 2 head muscles, diaphragm and the ventricular muscles at various ages between 5 days and 6 months old. All skeletal muscles displaying the usual sequential transitions from embryonic to neonatal and to adult myosin heavy chain isoforms but more interestingly these transitions occur with a distinct chronology in the different muscles, in this study we can identified seven different types of myosin heavy chain isoforms in skeletal and cardiac muscles during postnatal development .its more interested results that absence of MHC IIb in the diaphragm muscle in all studied ages. Our results also demonstrate that muscles of rabbits with different functions are subjected to distinct programs of myosin isoforms transitions during postnatal development as detected in masseter muscle and finally detection of 2 other isoforms in ventricular muscles beside α and β isoforms. This study describes new data, which will help us to understand postnatal muscle development in transgenic baladi rabbit’s muscles. |
