This study tries to shed light on problecs of production of broad beans ana lentils in Aswan and Kena in one hand and the effeciency of the utilization of resources used in production of these two crops in the other hand.
As for as broad beans production is concerned, the study found that Kena governorate is occupying rank eight, while Aswan governotate is occupying rank fifteen among other governorates.
The study found that trend of broad bean production in Egypt, Kena and Aswan is decreasing.
As for as lentils production is concerned, the study found that Kena governotate is occupying second rank while Aswan governotate is occupying the ninth rank amotg other governozates.
The study found that trend of production of lentils in £gypt as well as in Kena and Aswan is declining.
The study estimated production and cost functions for broad beans as single crop and joint crop in both Kena and Aswan governorate in order to examine the productive d effeciency of resources used in broad beans production. The following results have been reached:
1 — Sroad beans, whether single or joint crop is
produced in the non economical stage and its cost el3st— icity is less than one.
2 — In order to maximize farmer profit of one feddan for broad beans it is necessary to apply more fertilizers,
