This study aims at shedding light on profitability of broilers industry in Assiut Governorate in order to know the possibilities of expanding such industry by the enterance of new producers.
The study contains six chapters. The first chapter concerns the present situation of broilers production in Egypt as well as in Assiut Governorate. Also it deals with imports, exports and consumption of broilers in Egypt.
The second chapter deals with theoretical framework of feasibility study and ways of doing it. Also this chapter deals with methods of appraising project whether it is economical or fmancial appraisal.
The third chapter concerns feasibility study of broilers’ farms in Assiut Governorate through fmancial appraisal, by using benefit/cost ratio, net present worth, internal rate of return, capital payback period, return on pound spend on purchasing inputs, productivity of input, and productivity of labour.
The study found that most of broilers farms are profitable especially with what are included in the second, third and fourth sizes.
The study used sensitivity test in order to examine the effect of changes in costs of inputs and income on broilers farms productivity.
The study found that assuming reduction in income by 10 % and other thing were held constant, all broilers farms sizes except the third size are not profitable. Also when the study assumed that total costs increased by 10 % and other than things were held constant, it found that most broilers’ farms sizes except the third and fourth farms sizes are not profitable.
When the study assumed an increase in variable costs by 10 % and an increase in forage costs by 20 % and other things were held constant, most broilers’ farms became non profitable.
The fourth chapter is concerned with production functions in order to estimate return on pound used to purchase each input used in broilers production in all farms size.
The fifth chapter concerns problems facing broilers industry in Assiut Governorate.
