Abstract
We examined the frequency of HLA-DRB1 alleles (susceptibility markers for certain autoimmune diseases) in a group of children with autism in comparison to reference values of Egyptian controls. In addition, the risk for association of HLA-DRB1 alleles with autism, important disease characteristics and clinical manifestations such as family history of autoimmune diseases and allergic manifestations were estimated.
