Abstract

Earthquakes and volcanoes causes millions of dollars in damageand tragic loss of life, yet they also provide key insights into earth structure and active tectonic processess. The processes. The problem of losing bits of information still the biggest problem which depend on the analyst and his background knowledge to expect and evaluate the lost parts. Data converters have to be improved in both resolution and speed. Earthquake detection and analysis needs the seismic stations to be working 24 hours a day. Therfore the preventive maintenance is an important job, especially because the seismic staions are away from civilized areas. In case of a problem in the digitization sysytem, engineers can not do much to it in the field and replacing it as one block makes the running costs of the seismic station very expensive. Existing digitization systems are expensive with almost no spare parts which represent a big problem with the need for deploying more seismic stations, specially, for developed countries. In addition the maintenance field trips are risky and costly, specially, for developed countries. In addition the maintenance field trips are risky and costly, specially, where the remote sites located in terrain environments.
Designing our local digitization system allows the fast retrieving of management and control of the seismic networks and decreasing the network down gaps of the continuous recording of the seismic signals. In addition, it allows the developments and adaptation of the digitization sysytem to the different environments of the local seismic networks. One of the existing digitization sysytems namely, trident-the product of Nanometrics is studied to deduce all the possible design information then a new digitization system is designed and implemented using MATLAB package programming facilities. The filter design and implemented were done and compared with the existing digitizer. studing the trident packet assembly error free packet was studied carefully and a new data packet is designed to get an almost error free packet gives a great improvement of the new digitization system. Nwe possible improvement in the filter bank design is suggested as one of the achievements of implementation our own national digitization sysytem.
