Abstract The aim of the work is: 1- To Screen the distribution of Lymphocyte sub Populations and macrophages in the tests of normal patients and patients with azoospermia and severe Oligozoospermia to establish role of cell mediated immunity in male infertility. 2- To measure the level of sperm antibodies in semen and serum in different groups of infertile patients and to detect if there is a relation between the level of these antibodies and the distribution of the immunocompetent cells in testicular tissues. The main finding being as follows: a- T Lymphocytes were not found in the peripheral testis of normal fertile males but they are the predominant cell type in tests of infertile males. b- The T Cells present are largely of the suppressor/ Cytotoxic phenotype. c- There is a specific pattern of distribution of T Cells within the testis, the suppressor/ Cytotoxic T cells being more abundant within the lamina propria, while T cells of the helper/ inducer phenotype are found mainly within the interstirium. d- Macrophages were detected in high numbers in the testis. d- B Cells are found sporadically in few numbers in the obstructive and varicocele cases. |
